What goes on an expense report
An expense report shows who spent the money, what it was for, and how much your employer or client should pay back. These are the details the Filero report asks for.
| Who | Company name and logo, employee name, department and job title |
|---|---|
| Which period | Report title, report number, period start and period end |
| Each expense | Date, description, category, amount and a Receipt tick box |
| Totals | A category breakdown and the total, in the currency you choose |
How to make an expense report online
- Open the Expense Report Generator.
- Enter your company, your name and the dates the report covers.
- Add one line for each expense, and choose a category.
- Tick Receipt on each line where you have one.
- Check the live preview, then download the PDF.
Tips before you send it
- Use one report for one trip or one month, so it is easy to check.
- Write descriptions someone else can understand, such as "Taxi from airport to client office".
- Look through any line with no receipt. Your employer may ask about it.
- Check your employer's expense policy, because limits and rules differ.
Need a receipt or an invoice instead?
Use the Receipt Generator if you are the one who was paid. Use the Invoice Generator if you are billing a client for your work.
Common questions
