Why send an invoice as a PDF
A PDF looks the same on any phone or computer, so the layout does not shift when your client opens it. It also prints cleanly and is harder to change by accident than a document or spreadsheet.
How to create a PDF invoice
- Open the Invoice Generator.
- Add your business details and your client's details.
- Add a line for each item, with a quantity and unit price.
- Set the tax rate and add your payment terms in the notes.
- Check the preview, then download the PDF.
Before you send it
- Give each invoice its own number so it is easy to find later.
- Show a clear due date and how the client should pay.
- Check what your local tax rules ask an invoice to show.
Need a different document?
Send a quote before the work starts, and a receipt once you have been paid. If you already have invoices as PDFs, you can convert them to Excel.
Common questions
How do I create an invoice as a PDF?
Open the Invoice Generator, fill in your details, your client and each line item, then download the PDF. You can email it or print it from there.
Is the PDF invoice generator free?
Yes. There is no signup, no email address and no watermark on the PDF.
Are my invoice details uploaded?
No. The PDF is made in your browser. Filero does not keep a copy, so save the PDF before you close the page.
Which currencies can I use?
AUD, USD, GBP, EUR, NZD, CAD, SGD, INR and JPY.
Where do I put my bank details?
Use the Notes / Payment Terms box. Whatever you type there appears on the invoice, so check it before you send.
