Tools that run entirely in your browser
The majority of Filero tools never send your file to any server. Processing happens entirely inside your browser using JavaScript — which means your file never leaves your device at any point. These include:

For these tools, your files are loaded into browser memory, processed using client-side libraries, and the result is generated as a download — all without any network request containing your file data.
Tools that use server-side processing
Some conversions require server-side processing because they use specialised software that cannot run in a browser. These tools upload your file over an encrypted HTTPS connection to a secure processing server:
- Compress PDF (uses Ghostscript)
- PDF to Word (uses LibreOffice + OCR)
- PDF to Excel (uses LibreOffice)
- PDF to JPEG / PNG
- Word to PDF, Excel to PDF, PowerPoint to PDF
- HEIC to JPG (for larger files)
For all server-side tools, the same rules apply: your file is uploaded, processed, the result is returned to you, and the file is immediately deleted from the server. We do not keep copies, we do not log file contents, and we do not inspect what is in your documents.
AI tools
Filero's AI tools (Summarise, Grammar Check, Translate, Rewrite) send the text content of your document to Groq's API for processing. The text is used solely to generate the result and is not stored or used for training. Groq's data processing is covered under their standard API terms. We recommend not submitting highly confidential information (passwords, financial account details, medical records) through any AI tool on any platform.
What we never do
- We never store your uploaded files after processing is complete.
- We never index, read, or analyse the content of your documents.
- We never share your files with advertisers or any third party.
- We never require you to create an account to use any tool.
- We never add watermarks to your downloaded files.
Encryption and transport security
All connections to Filero use HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or higher. Files uploaded to server-side tools are transferred over encrypted connections only. The processing server does not accept plain HTTP connections.
