On a Mac

On Windows

On iPhone

JPG vs PNG: which format should I use?
JPG is the right choice for most PDFs. It produces smaller file sizes and is widely supported. The slight lossy compression is not noticeable for typical documents.
Use PNG instead if:
- Your PDF contains text or line art that needs to stay perfectly sharp
- You need a transparent background
- You plan to edit the image further and want to avoid compression artefacts
