How compressing a PDF to 1 MB works

Large scans

A long scanned document may need its images reduced quite a lot to fit 1 MB. Check the result, and if small print is hard to read, split the PDF and send it in parts.

Frequently asked questions

Will the PDF be exactly 1 MB?

It will be 1 MB or just under. Filero tries the best quality first and makes the images smaller step by step until the file fits, so you get the clearest PDF that meets the limit.

What if it cannot get that small?

Some PDFs, such as long scanned documents, cannot fit a very small limit and still be readable. The tool tells you, shows the smallest size it reached, and lets you download that. Splitting the PDF into parts is the usual fix.

Is my PDF kept?
